Purpose: K-alpha XPS spectrometer allows for elemental analysis of the surface. The shift of the binding energy depending on the immediate environment allows for the study of the chemical state of the elements. It is possible to scan in depth (etching with an ion gun), along a line and along a plane with mapping of selected elements. Non-destructive examination of films and coatings several nanometers thick is possible using a tilt module.
